The Decline of Religion is Bad for People

I was reading the On the Rise Newsletter from Christian Leader: Carey Nieuwhof. He states, “a new study shows that the loss of religion in America has been bad for people.” As you probably know, deaths by suicide and alcohol abuse have been surging over the last few decades, especially among white middle-aged men. So, what's driving it?

While a lot of people point to the rise of opioid abuse, a new research study actually links the rise of “deaths of despair” to the decline in church attendance.

In an era when more and more people are dismissing the church as “irrelevant” in today's culture, it's time to think again.
