Church Board Update: April, 2021.
Greetings from your Church Board. We hope and pray that you and your family are well. We wanted to give you an update on some of the decisions that have been made and we welcome your feedback.
We have decided to cancel the annual general meeting for 2021 that normally takes place at the end of February. There are no elections for board members required this year. The annual reports for 2020 have been available online at https://callanderbaychurch.ca/2021/03/01/annual-report-2020/ and in printed form since February. Printed copies are still available to access in the mailbox outside the front doors of the church building.
The proposed budget may be the item of greatest interest to many. We were pleasantly surprised and encouraged that general offerings remained strong through most of 2020. While still below the budget approved last year, the expenses for 2020 were also considerably lower. The proposed budget reflects the lower operating costs we anticipate for part of 2021 as well. The monthly donations received have been trending down so we are being cautious with new expenses. Callander Bay Church is still in a good place financially and we are so thankful that we haven't been faced with more difficult decisions in that area so far. We will consider the proposed budget as accepted by the members if there isn't concern expressed.
We appreciate Pastor John's additional workload and stress adapting to changes over the last year. Monique Avery stepped down from her position as office administrator last fall. We are very thankful for her significant contribution to Callander Bay. Pastor John has picked up some of those duties but we expect it will be necessary to fill that role with another person eventually. Monique also serves as our bookkeeper and treasurer. She would like to move away from those responsibilities as well. We are thankful for her patience and willingness to continue serving until those transitions can happen. Tyler Yanta has been an essential part of the online Sunday service and increasing Callander Bay Church's online presence in general. Tyler began his contribution as a volunteer but he is now compensated some for his gift of time and knowledge. We expect to continue online Sunday services indefinitely as we recognize a need and opportunity even when full capacity in person services resume. We would like to add at least one other person to assist Tyler when possible. Stacy Attwood has continued for most of the last year to clean, sanitize and organize at Callander Bay. She performs many activities outside the role she is hired for. Thank you Stacy for your work.
The church board and Pastor John have continued to meet monthly either online or in person. Some email discussions have been necessary between meetings. Please pray for us as we work together.
