Sermon: Stencil for Success
Scripture: Luke 2:41-52
Date: Sept. 19, 2021
Worship
Listen to a Worship song (If you need suggestions, you can use one from the YouTube Playlist for this week) or express something that you are thankful to God for.
Welcome
- Check In – How is everyone doing (good things, lessons learned, prayers answered)?
Word
- Did anyone in your family own a farm or family business?
- Read: Luke 2:41-52
- This is one of the only stories about Jesus’s life between his birth and his earthly ministry. How do you think Jesus’ parents felt?
- What else stands out to you from this passage of scripture?
- What do you think Jesus meant when he said that he needed to “be about the Father’s business”?
- Read John 17:4 and Jesus’ last words in John 19:30. Jesus talks about finishing the work God had called him to. How does this give us a stencil for success on the spiritual journey?
- Jesus mentions in John 4:34 that there is a fulfillment found in doing God’s will. How do we experience this in our lives?
- How can we apply this on a daily basis?
Witness
How can we be “about the Father’s business”?
Prayer
Pray for unity in our country and the church. Pray for our family members and friends that do not know Christ. Pray for any other concerns that your group has.
