Welcome
Check In – How is everyone doing (good things, teaching applied, lessons learned, prayers answered)?
Word
- Have you ever been involved with any cliques? Were you on the inside or the outside of it?
- What causes “us and them” thinking and the polarization that comes with it?
- Read Ephesians 4:26-27
- Anger can give the Devil a foothold. Share about a time when an offense caused you to experience one of the three D’s of Destruction—division, distraction, or discredit to your witness. What could you do differently next time an offense occurs?
- Pastor John shared the story of him yelling at the NBA refs. How does distance and disassociation affect our behaviour to others?
- Read: Jeremiah 17:9. What does this verse mean to you?
- Why do we often judge other people and their motives, but have a hard time discerning our own behaviours?
- What do you think of Brant Hansen’s quote, “…the heart is deceptive. And that calls for humility above all else, because my heart isn’t deceptive because it fools other people. It’s deceptive because it fools me.”
- Read Psalm 139:23-24. How can this verse help us in this area?
Witness
How can we keep the message of Jesus from being discredited in our lives and community? As things start to open up, what can we do to share Jesus with others?
Prayer
Pray Psalm 139: 23-24 over your group. Pray for peace in our world. Pray for unity in our country and church. Pray for any other requests you have.
