A Foundation of Thanksgiving: Small Group Curriculum

Sunday: October 9, 2022
Sermon: Foundation of Thanksgiving
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:2-9

Worship

Listen to a Worship song (If you need suggestions, you can use one from the YouTube Playlist for this week) or express something that you are thankful to God for.

Welcome

Check In – How is everyone doing (good things, teaching applied, lessons learned, prayers answered)?

Word

  • What is something you are thankful for?
  • Read: 1 Corinthians 1:2-9
  • What do you think of when you hear the word “saint”? How does it feel to be described as one?
  • Paul lists some things that he is thankful for.  The first is God’s grace given in Jesus. What does God grace mean to you?  How does it save us?  How does it sustain us?  How is it sufficient?
  • Paul is thankful that we have been enriched in our speaking and in knowledge.  How can we enrich others with our speaking and knowledge?  How can the opposite do harm?
  • Verse 7 states that we do not lack any spiritual gift.  Does this seem like reality in your life and in the church?  How can we use our giftedness more effectively?
  • Verse 8 promises that he will keep us strong to the end.  How does God accomplish this?  How has God done this in your life?
  • How has God shown himself to be faithful in your life?
  • How can you build a foundation of thanksgiving in your life?

Witness

How can you use your giftedness to show God’s love to others?  How can being thankful assist in showing God’s love?

Prayer

Pray that God will help you apply this lesson.  Pray for any other requests you have.
