Who is This Man Part 8: A Good Life vs Good Person (Sunday, May 24, 2020) Small Group Curriculum

Worship: Listen to a Worship song or one of the songs from the weekly playlist or express something that you are thankful to God for.

Welcome: What do you think the general public would say the “good life” is?

Word: Read Matthew 23:13-39

How does it make you feel when you hear someone say that the church is full of hypocrites?

What is your first impression of this scripture?

What are some of the strong words that Jesus uses for the Pharisees in this passage of scripture?  Why did hypocrisy bother Jesus so much?

In verses 16-22 Jesus gives an example of a loophole (Mark 7 gives another) that the Pharisees used to avoid being obedient to God and keeping their money for themselves.  Do we sometimes try and use loopholes with God?  If so, how?

What are some of the images that Jesus uses and what is the point that He is trying to make?

Is there anything else that stands out to you from this passage of scripture?

What are some practical ways that we can rid ourselves of hypocrisy?  What is one thing you need to apply?

Witness:  Continue to pray for the people that you want to see come into a relationship with Christ. What are some practical ways that you can show the love of Christ to your family, co-workers, and neighbours, particularly in light of the COVID 19 pandemic?

Pray for these people and each other.
